Haruna Higashida graduated with a major in gagaku from Tokyo University of the Arts' Department of Traditional Japanese Music, where she studied sho, gakubiwa, gagaku percussion instruments, Noh chanting and court dance. In April 2019 she participated in a recording of NHK E-TV's Nihongo de asobo. Her diverse activities include the duo Oriental-Occident with oboist Kana Shimura and various projects ranging from classical to contemporary works.
