Filament began in 1997 as the result of a thorough analysis and dismantling of the acts of listening and sound production. Revolving around the unique composition method of Sachiko M and Otomo Yoshihide, Filament pursues a type of acoustic experience that differs fundamentally from music produced through existing concepts of "composition" and "improvisation."
