Murayama's principal activities are performances using percussion, drums and voice; electro-acoustic composition; and workshops. He returned to Japan in 2013 after living and working in France. In addition to his solo work, Murayama has released CDs with Jean-Luc Guionnet, Eric La Casa, Stephane Rives, Toshiya Tsunoda, Lionel Marchetti, Michael Northam, Eric Cordier, Kazushige Kinoshita and others.
