Fragments of intimations and tranquility loom at the extreme limits of the non-instrumental/non-improvisational/non-ensemble. stilllife, the sound art project by field recording artists Takashi Tsuda and Hiroki Sasajima, goes back and forth between the moment when sound hits the consciousness to become music, and the moment when music dissolves and returns to sound, revealing lingering climatic effects. The folklore they depict of the fragrance of soil hovers on the shore between ears and sounds, between listening and playing.
