Electric Powered Music

Starting around 2008, composer Masamichi Kinoshita and cellist Tomoki Tai each thought independently and in a straightforward way about the question "What is performance?" Through this process they arrived at the use of electric instruments and started performing sessions in their homes and other locations. Before long they were joined by Takumi Ikeda. With a nod to Masahiro Miwa's Chubu Denryoku Ongaku Sengen [Chubu Electric Power Music Declaration], they named their project Electric Powered Music and started performing in various places in Tokyo. In their performances, Ikeda plays mainly computers and the like; Kinoshita, junk mixers and effects; and Tai, dismantled and reconstructed effects and radio-cassette players--although the set-up differs each time. Electric Powered Music performed in "Sound Performance Platform 2019," an event held in Nagoya in 2019.
