Born in 1988, alto sax player Hikaru Yamada carries out unique performances making extensive use of circular breathing and preparations. Another specialty for which he has earned high praise is track making through the use of sampling. In addition to solo performances and his own projects, such as "hikaru yamada and the librarians," his wide-ranging activities include collaborating with other musicians and writing articles on music.
Yamada appeared at Ftarri on October 4, 2021, performing a solo alto sax improvisation and two duo improvisations with bass guitarist Masatake Abe. This album contains all three sets from that concert. Abe has a unique bass playing method that includes many noise elements, and the performances as a whole are exceedingly original.
